ERRORS

Our code always works the SAME for everyone
under the SAME conditions

So it's possible to tell if YOU can fix the problem
ON YOUR OWN SYSTEM

WHEN THE PROBLEM IS ON YOUR SYSTEM
YOU are the ONLY one who can fix it

This is the case when something occurs
that only happens on YOUR screen
but NOT on
EVERY other player's system.

The following are actual letters from players that provide

EXAMPLES and SOLUTIONS:
(Some of these letters may sound familiar)

Incidentally, most problems are solved by
Learning how to clear your memory cache.

1. "I've been shut down about 5 or 6 times in the last 2 hours. I'm getting the "this program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down" message."

A. Our site has NO ABILITY to shut down the programs ON YOUR COMPUTER. The source of any problem should be clear when the player is able to resolve it by doing something on their own system to correct the problem - such as restarting their Netscape browser.

2. "Tried to sign on & play. Recd error msg that said to copy "Unable to get a connection to marathon2.
Timed-out waiting for the data source or its driver."

A. The magic word above is "timed-out" which refers always to the person's Internet connection and modem: all of that is obviously on the player's end.

Similarly, no further explanation is necessary for the following comment:
"I had been trying to access BJ TIME, but kept getting the message "too busy at this time".
It's the player's provider who was "too busy," we don't have any such message to even send.

3. "Well, for what it's worth.. I got back into it tonight.. played one hand... there I was with no cards, and I stood. It then showed the completion of 4 split hands (where'd that come from??) and after that everything was back to normal."

A. THIS IS A TYPICAL (and obvious) BROWSER PROBLEM. In one such situation, The player's browser had to be reinstalled.

However, the first thing to do to resolve the problem of non-sensical cards and card counts is for the player to CLEAR HIS/HER MEMORY CACHE. See a short explaination on How to clear your memory cache. (or, in if you have WebTV, CLICK HERE.

In fact, MOST PROBLEMS can be resolved by clearing your memory cache.

4. The following message was received from a player:
"ERROR:Reserved error (-3034); there is no message for this error. (error #3000)
PROCEDURE:Ads_GetNextAd
BROWSER: Mozilla/4.04 [en] (Win95; U)

I had 22043, bet was 20 dealer had Q and I had A, 4, 6. I stood and got the above message. Hit back and dealer got a 10. I got my 20 credits. Clicked bet and got service unavailabe, Server down.

Clicked back and waited awhile the clicked bet. Got the message - "Hey, finish this hand before you place another bet!" I did.

A. More non-sense cards and comments that appear to have been generated by our server. However, this jumbled screen was finally cured when the player REINSTALLED HIS BROWSER.

The same solution was required for the person who complained:

"this is the second hand in a row where I dont bust and the dealer never draws a card. Yet, I had a 20 and the dealer had only a 2 showing."

The problem will USUALLY end upon clearing your memory cache.

OTHER SITUATIONS

1. "This 503 service unavailable came up on my screen. Now I can't get back to my game. , this screen keeps coming up."

A. The Notice: 503 SERVICE UNAVAILABLE is our method of telling everyone that our system is busy resetting and updating records.

It takes about 30 minutes for our computer to reset/update on Monday nights and also on Tuesday mornings at 11AM. It also resets EVERY night at 8PM MST (other than Monday night, it takes only 5 minutes). For a detailed explanation of the end of our tournament rounds (8PM MST Monday night) CLICK HERE.

WebTV PROBLEM

If your WebTV browser refuses to access our site by proclaiming that it:

"DOESN'T SUPPORT FRAMES"

or indicates some other error, you may

ANOTHER WEB TV "CLASSIC" PROBLEM

If you are using the Web TV Classic and are experiencing the problem of your browser jumping to the banner after each hand played, this is an inherent problem with the Classic and not our site. We are trying to discover on a "work around" at this time.

THE "ADMIN" ERROR

"ERROR:Couldn't update; currently locked by user 'admin' on machine 'CASINOTIME'. (error #3260)
PROCEDURE:Utility_CardsOut
BROWSER: Mozilla/4.05 [en] (Win95; I)
"Just making an insurance bet of $75 on a hand"

A. IGNOR THIS ERROR. Something is being done administratively that is cause this temporary error. The problem will end when the programmer has completed placing a program into the computer.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU RECEIVE AN ERROR MESSAGE

The following message tells you what to do. However to locate the problem, you must provide more information than the person who sent this message back to us:

5/13/98 9:24:49 AM
ERROR:Invalid procedure call or argument (error #5)
PROCEDURE:CheckStatus
BROWSER: Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 4.01; Windows 95)
==================================================
Please copy everything between the dashed lines and paste it into an email along with what you were doing when it happened to

Our programmers must know what the player did JUST PRIOR to the message. It helps them to know that:

"I hit the back button to see my previous hand, and then proceeded forward to the screen where I had been playing. Then I hit STAND when this message come up."

Our programmers then try to do everything that the player has done to cause the error. If THEY can't make the error occur, it usually means that the error lies somewhere OTHER THAN on our end of the Net.

It may be the player's modem or browser problem. Or, the need to clear the system's memory cache or maybe just a failed packet.

If the error is in our computer code, the error will occur again under EXACTLY the same conditions to EVERYONE. But, the programmers will be unable to locate and duplicate any such error if you don't provide them with those EXACT conditions. Your help is therefore critically important to locating code errors and thus greatly appreciated.
