Here's how it works:
All players are categorized by the number of FREQUENT
PLAYER POINTS the
player has acquired.
Players with less than 300 FPP are
in category "C";
Players with 1,000 FPP or more are in
category "A";
Everyone else is in "B."
The MARATHON METHOD has NO effect upon
"A" category players as they receive exactly
the same positions that they would receive WITHOUT the
MARATHON METHOD.
"B" category players receive the advantage of being awarded
positions as if there were NO "A" players in the game.
"C" category players receive the advantage of being awarded
positions as if there were NO "A" OR "B" players in the game.
Although in the same tournament, each category is competing only
against those not proven to be superior to their own category.

The MARATHON METHOD guarantees "C" category players
will receive winning positions despite the proficiency
of their competition.
In some tournaments, the TOP position will be awarded to the top scoring player ONLY. In such cases, a "C" or "B" category player would have to beat everyone else to place First.
For all of the remaining positions that are scored using the MARATHON METHOD, the "C" and "B" players who do not outscore players in a category above them will share the position.
As you may still have questions, you may view EXAMPLE of the two Nov. 2, tournaments that were scored under the MARATHON METHOD (note that in this November tournament, it was unusual that even First place was scored using the MARATHON METHOD).
